How I Work
Im a Person centred Therapist at heart integrating other modalities to suit you, here’s what that means.
The way I work is empathic, non judgemental and encourages autonomy. I believe you are the expert on you, I won’t tell you what I think is best. Instead as you share, I listen, I may gently enquire to help you focus or explore if that feels right. It really depends on what you bring, we will discuss how you want to work.
The sessions are yours to bring whatever feels most important.
Sometimes just saying your issues aloud in confidence, to someone that really listens and understands, doesn’t judge and helps you work through is a relief. Clients have said it brings clarity and a lightness.
In brief theoretical terms; Person centred therapy was established by Carl Rogers he believed all organisms have an innate tendency towards growth. When given the right conditions, all have the ability to reach their full potential.
My aim is to provide these conditions for you.
It is a humanistic therapy and based on phenomenology; we all have an individual perception of ourselves and our world based on our experiences, to understand this, to know this, to begin to look at ourselves and our perspective is the catalyst for change and growth.

‘I can offer explanations of how our body and mind are linked, so you get to understand your own nervous system on a deeper level, helping you have more control.’
My approach can be creative, sometimes its helpful to see things in colour or drawn out. I can offer practices such as breathwork, orienting, grounding and visualisations, movement, these are methods you can use outside of sessions to help with anxiety, stress, overthinking, and to increase well being.
‘I help you to find your answers, what works for you. This is more empowering to you, it sticks because it fits.’
3 phased approach to trauma. You never have to talk about any details. We begin with safety, this means looking at ways to regulate, wellness, creating a sense of safety, a tool box of ways to regulate, finding what works for you, always with an explanation of why and how a resource can help, always only if it feels right and always your choice. The next 2 phases are processing and integration, that can happen alongside. I would explain in more depth in session.
